In LinkedIn, it is possible to shorten @mentions from the left side as well.
Example:
@Peter Claus PC'L Lamprecht (full name)
@Peter Claus (first name)
@Lamprecht (last name)
@PC'L (special case nickname)
Shorten mention works from the right side.
